Weak and strong points (e-learning assignment)
Two things that I am good at are complex problem solving and negotiation. When put in a situation where I have to problem solve, my adrenaline gets running and I am quick to come up with an answer. If someone presents me with a situation I can easily come up with a solution by myself or even faster when you put more minds together. Negotiation. I can easily negotiate almost anything. Prices, homework, you name it. I negotiate almost daily. I negotiated with my mom about how much I was going to pay her for her birthday present today. It was $25 we negotiated and I only owe her $15. When put in situations I am always the one to be the negotiator. However I am not so strong at coordinating with others. When it comes to making plans I always forget to text back a specific person or in a group chat. I could improve this slowly by taking time to text people back. When I was supposed to meet with the city, it took me 2 months to get the person’s email, but we quickly worked out a date once I got his email. I have a hard time connecting and networking with others. On the other hand, I hate making decisions because I always think “what if I make the wrong one?” Even after I make a decision, I think about what the other outcome would have been. I can improve this by deciding what first comes to my mind as the right idea, or by trusting my gut feeling.
Design thinking
My favorite quote said by Mark was an example where he said "this man who lost his short term memory loss and was talking during an interview and said which door is your kitchen door and he couldn't remember. He later asked him for a glass of water and he got up and walked to the exact door that his kitchen was at and got a glass of water." This shows that your short term and long term memory is in separate parts of your brain. This story really stuck with me. showing how innovations can relate to anyones future job.
